Our Story
It all began at a movie theater.
A young boy discovered he loved classic films. After spending a couple of years attending weekly screenings with his dad and learning more about the films they watched, he wanted to share that experience with his friends.
That simple idea became Austin Flick Clique—a monthly gathering in Austin, Texas where families and film lovers come together to discover classic cinema on the big screen.
As our collection of film notes and educational materials grew, we realized they could benefit families far beyond Austin. Flick Clique was created to share those resources with anyone who wants to make classic film part of their home, classroom, or community.

Why Classic Film?
Film is the only art form that naturally brings together literature, theater, music, photography, painting, architecture, history, and technology into a single experience.
The greatest films reward more than a single viewing. They invite us to ask questions, make connections, and see the world differently. That's why we believe classic film deserves a place alongside the arts and humanities—not simply as entertainment, but as an essential part of a well-rounded education.
Picked With Care
Every film is chosen because we genuinely believe it's worth watching, discussing, remembering, and rewatching.
Our current library of study guides focuses on films released before 1970 that have earned their place through artistic achievement, historical significance, cultural impact, or lasting influence on cinema. While our own love of cinema certainly shapes our selections, our goal is to curate a collection of films that are truly worth studying.
Most of our current guides are intended for ages 13 and up. Because every family is different, we encourage parents and guardians to review each film and determine what is most appropriate for their children. Some films are perfectly appropriate for younger viewers, while others are better suited for older teens.
